Instructors

Do You Want to be a SAFED Trainer?

To qualify you must:

  • Have no more than 3 points on your licence
  • Have no driving bans within the last 4 years
  • Undertake a SAFED assessment and pass with distinction
  • Be on the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) voluntary register for driving instructors
To qualify as a Commercial Training Instructor you should have:
  • Full class C&E entitlement, i.e. be able to train on all vehicles
  • An LGV licence for a minimum of five years
  • At least 2 years instructor experience

To qualify as an In-house instructor you should have:

  • A class of licence appropriate to the vehicles used by your company
  • An LGV licence for a minimum of 3 years.

SAFED training should take place in a vehicle fitted with fuel monitoring equipment.
