SAFED training programme
The SAFED training programme has been developed specifically to enable both vehicle operators and training providers to implement driver training and development for existing HGV drivers within the road freight industry.

Driver Training consists of a one full day off-the-job training course.

The training course includes practical assessments and theory papers and is based around the following themes:

  • accident prevention and reduction
  • fuel efficient driving

A SAFED Qualified Instructor will assess drivers performance both before and after the training. Driving sessions will be used to put safe and fuel efficient driving techniques into practice. Drivers who reach the SAFED standard will receive a certificate of achievement, an ID card and a SAFED hi-visability vest.

To find out how you can get involved in this programme check the eligibility criteria for drivers and instructors.
